GI Tagged Indian Foods
GI stands for Geographical Indication. It is a sign or certification that indicates a certain product originates from a specific geographical location. GI tagged products possess unique characteristics and qualities due to their geographical origin.

As a member of World Trade Organization (WTO), India sactioned the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999. However, this act came into effect from 15 September 2003.
